After a drunken night out, Abhishek and his friends Vicky and Shardul return to his place to continue the party. Strangely they see Abhishek's girlfriend Sweety sprawled on the floor, only to discover that her pulse is still.

The basic concept of Amogh Phadake's Sweety On The Rocks is to provide a laugh riot. To a great extent it succeeds, specially as the interaction between the three lads is filled with cleverly-written dialogues. Spread over two acts an hour each, the play has enough twists and turns to keep you anticipating for more. However, the last half hour turns slapstick with the introduction of new characters.

The main mystery is to find out how Sweety reached that state. This is portrayed through flashbacks featuring the three boys and their individual association with her. They are in a dilemma whether to inform the cops but soon realise other complications arise regarding Sweety's past life.

The male actors show a great sense of timing. In the show this blogger attended, Sweety is played by Malikka Advani, who floats between her active live scenes and motionless posture with ease (the other show had a different lead pair). Despite the rather over-the-top performances at the end and the predictable climax, this play is worth a watch, since it keeps you entertained for most part.

On the technical side, Dhanendra Kawade uses a standard set which doesn't require shifting (see pic below). The use of blinking flash-lights between flashback scenes may be bothersome to the audience.

Phadake had originally written it in Marathi, but that it would be a good idea to translate it into Hindi. The play is produced by TPot Productions, whose Trishla Patel plays a cameo as Sweety's mother. This blogger saw an early show at Prithvi, and hopes its stages at other venues soon.

(Sweety On The Rocks had two shows at Prithvi Theatre on December 27 2025, and will have one more show at the same venue on January 28 2026)
